Our History

The Association was officially incorporated in August 2007 by the four existing California PACE programs, which have been in operation for several years. In February 2008, we welcomed our newest member, St. Paul’s PACE in San Diego – the first new PACE provider in California since 1996.

Although the California PACE programs have worked as an informal collaborative in the past, we identified the need and the benefits to us, both collectively and individually, by formalizing our relationship. To this end, CalPACE was developed with the following goals:

  • To promote expansion of comprehensive home and community-based health care services for the frail elderly in the State of California through the Program of All-inclusive Care for Elderly (PACE).
  • To support, maintain, safeguard and promote through education and advocacy the PACE Model of Care and to promote quality health care services for the elderly in the State of California.
